Esteemed Delegates and Advisors,
It is with distinct pleasure that I welcome you to the ninth installment of the Best-Delegate-ranked Florida Crisis Simulation. The conference will be held on Friday, February 14th through Sunday, February 17th, 2020, at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.
Since its inception, the Florida Crisis Simulation has continuously set the bar with our creative and engaging committees, and this year will be no exception. This year, the Secretariat has chosen ten exciting committees that will provide for a weekend of substantive, engaging, and challenging debate that will lead to lifelong memories. With the unique perspectives that our dedicated directors and staffers will bring to each committee in the crisis updates and note responses, we strive for each delegate to have an unforgettable experience. We’re excited to share not only our newly renovated Reitz Union, where the conference will be held, but Gainesville’s unique nightlife experience with all of you.
This year, each committee will address the challenge of change, which has reverberated in recent years throughout the politics of the world. It becomes even more relevant as we enter (or leave) our collegiate experience. FLCS hopes to prepare delegates for the challenge of change as the innovative crisis updates and committee debate force you to evolve and shift with the ever-evolving dynamics of your committee. A good delegate will take what challenges they are given in stride and use those opportunities to strengthen their own position. It is in this avenue that the theme for this year’s Florida Crisis Simulation is the Challenge of Change.
I cannot wait to see how your creativity and innovation brings the committees at FLCS IX to life this February. Both in and out of committee, you will soon see how far our dedication goes to provide you with a memorable experience. On behalf of the FLCS IX Secretariat, I am humbled and honored to welcome you to the ninth edition of what I’m sure will be an incredible weekend!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Secretary-General of FLCS IX
